Lets all complain about the price of gas...

Not that it will do us any good...

The radio announced that the prices would go up today, so I figured I should go fill up this morning. I was on empty, too... I got really busy at work so I could not get away til about 10:30, I figured I would get there in time to beat the price gouging, I mean increase. Well, the sign at the nearest station read $129.9 per litre... Yup, $129.9... I pulled up to the pump and had a look and the pump said $112.9. I figured I got there just before the price increase so I got out and tried to fill up. Well, it wouldn't work. I hit the button over and over, but nothing. Then I looked at the pump and the number started to increase before my eyes... I was pissed to say the least. I got out of there, no way I was gonna pay that price for gas, not today anyway. I drove to another station but the cars were lined up way down the street in both directions. My car will flash kilometres at you when you are getting low so you have an idea of how far you can drive before you run out, it was flashing ---- so I guess that means fumes. I could not wait in line because I had to get back to work so I tried one more station, I had to fill up regardless of the price now. I was "lucky" enough to get in at the next station and fill up at $112.9, they were just getting geared up to raise the price. $67.00 later I had a full tank of gas... This is getting ridiculous...

Matt Andersen...

Matt Andersen is a local performer who is starting to get a little more attention. He is a great guitar player and singer, a bluesy/rock type of guy. Matt was on Breakfast television this morning - BT is a morning news/entertainment show here in Atlantic Canada...

Matt just started playing a custom "Atlantic" mabe by none other than Studio 46 Guitars...

The Poker tournament that wasn't...

So it turns out that Saturday night's Poker game was just that, a game, not a tournament... There were a couple of games going on and a tournament so I was not sure what I was playing till I arrived. We ended up having 10 guys so we split it into 2 tables of 5, as soon as 3 were out we all sat at one table... To make a long story short, I played quite well and ended up in the last three... That is where my luck ran out, however, so that is where I finished, third. It was a winner take all game so no $$ came my way but it was a fun game...

Once that game was decided we started a second game, same format as the first one. And this is where my luck took a turn for the worse... A few hands in I get Queen Seven suited, and the flop brings out 2 more diamonds. It is a relatively small bet, so I stay in. The turn is another diamond, so I am sitting pretty. Then the player beside me goes all in... I really don't think he has any chance to beat me so I call right away, and it turns out he has three of a kind... I am pretty happy with my situation... until... the river gives him a full house and I am all done...

I wish we had the tv odds thing going on right then, because I must have been at least 4 to 1 favourite to win the hand... Maybe someone can calculate the odds for me ;-)

Oh well, you win some you lose some... no, wait, for me it is you lose some and you lose some more...

The Davinci Code...

Most people it seems have either read the book, or at least know what its about. Personally I really enjoyed it. Now, like most successful novels, it is being made into a movie. I was excited when I learned this, it would make a great movie for sure. However, once I learned that Tom Hanks was cast as Robert Langdon I was totally put off. Not a good choice at all... If we could turn back the clock about 15 years or so and get a younger Harrison Ford then we might have something...

Anyway, strike 2 against the upcoming movie could be Sony's lack of cajones...

Da Vinci Code film to remove religious references, to avoid offence

They have got to be kidding? That would be like Taking the Chocolate Factory out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... then it would just be Charlie...

If that story is true then the movie is sure to bomb, I guess we will have to wait and see, maybe this is all just a trick to boost headlines and generate a fuss so they can sell more tickets...

Million Dollar Baby...

So we finally watched this movie last night... I have to say, it was not what I expected. It is one of those movies that just sort of hits you after it is over. While we were watching it I was thinking that this really isn't all it was cracked up to be, it is good, but not great. But, once you get past some of the boxing scenes that are a little unrealistic, even though they are pretty good, you see all of the other stuff that is going on and it really gets to you, it got to me anyway because I am still thinking about it...

I really don't like giving away movies because I know people are always planning to see certain ones, so I will not talk about what happens, but just be prepared to feel something about this one when its over. So in the end I guess that does make it a great movie...
