Drinking a beer walking down Las Vegas Blvd.

Well we made it safe and sound, just found the internet cafe today. We are sipping on a coors lite as we write this, it is 33 C right now, yesterday was about 40 C... pretty sweet... We are only down about $40 on the slots right now, we will hit the tables tonight.

This is Pete's new bride, Jillian....we have walked off this morning's breakfast buffet already...the strip is a couple miles long, quite deceiving when you are wearing cute sandals. We have an awesome pool at the resort and we plan to spend a few hours lounging there later today. We are on our way to visit MGM Grand, New York, New York and maybe Mandalay Bay.

Tonight we are going to the Improv to watch Dat Phan (the winner from last year's Last Comic Standing)...we found $3 Let It Ride Poker tables for Pete at a cheesy little casino so I imagine that's where you can find us tonight.

Congrats to Scott and Janet on the birth of their daughter, I imagine she will be called little Carmelina Lebronna MacDonald??

We may or may not be able to post again, we will try to get back down here in the next day or so - Stay Tuned!!

How About a Little Vegas Preparation?

Gambling is becomming a pretty cool pastime these days, reality tv, movies, and the World Series of Poker on tv are providing us with a lot of gambling inspiration. Here is a good article trying to educate us "winners" on how not to become a loser: Screening the worst gamblers.

I just hope Jillian does not become Gamblor!

The X-Men for Real?

This kids future may be worth following. He could be the answer to many people's prayers, he is actually a real-life mutant. Will we accept him or will he be an outcast, only time will tell...

Pushing Eight Feet

I am really not sure if this is a joke or not, but it makes me wonder just how big people will be in say, 50 years from now...

What a Surprise...

I am heartbroken. What seemed like a love for all ages has ended. Nepean's Jesse Palmer is a bachelor again.

Can't you just feel the sarcasm as I type this? I feel a rant coming on. But I digress, I mean who didn't see this coming?? These reality dating shows are so stupid I can't beleive I am even taking the time to write this. It is such a farce, anyway, read it for yourself.

Rock The Island in Jeopardy?

It may be, residents near the propsed site apparently aren't big Train fans. We will have to wait and see if this thing will really go down...

The Big Countdown

Due to technical difficulties we will no longer be able to dislpay the Big Countdown. Perhaps we will resurect this popular feature in the future so stay tuned...

Post Pictures On Your Blog

I thought I would write up a little how-to for those of you who want to post pictures on your blog.

First of all, you need somewhere to host your pictures, Blogger does not provide image hosting. I suggest your personal webspace provided by your ISP. You will need ftp software to upload your pictures. I suggest WS_FTP LE 6.0, it is very easy to use. Just make sure you are a student when you set it up. If anyone needs help setting up or using ftp software mention it in your comment and I will help you out.

You will need a thumbnail for your picture(s), you can use an image editing program like Adobe PhotoShop and simply resize the image yourself, or use a thumbnail generation tool like one of the ones found here.

Once your pictures(s) are uploaded you will need to create an html page to display the picture(s). Here is the code that I used to display the lily.jpg from my earlier post:

<html>
<head>
   <title>Lily - photo by Christine MacKinnon</title>
</head>
<body topmargin="0" leftmargin="0">
   <img src="lily.jpg" width="800" height="594">
</body>
</html>

If you have multiple pictures you can simply copy the file, change the image name, and save it with a new filename.

Now you will need a link for your post. The link must point to the html file(s) that you created and it must use the complete path to the webserver that the file resides on. There are a couple of ways to do this. The following link will open up the picture in a new, full size browser window:

<a href="http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/pjmackin/lily.html">
   <img src="http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/pjmackin/lily.jpg" border="0">
</a>

The second way is to use a javascript link. This will allow you to control the size of the new browser window as well as control what aspects of the window will be displayed (toolbars, address bar, etc...):

<a href="http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/pjmackin/lily.html" onClick="MyWindow=window.open ('http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/pjmackin/lily.html','MyWindow','toolbar=no, location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no, resizable=no,width=800,height=594'); return false;">
   <img src="http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/pjmackin/lily_thumb.jpg" border="0">
</a>

You can see in the above code that I am setting the size of the browser window to be the same size as the actual full size image, in this case 800 x 594. I am also disabling all toolbars and menu items, etc...

So there you have it, use these steps to post pictures on your own blog... Remember, you can't post html in a comment so if you want to post your own pictures you will need your own blog. If anyone has any pictures that they would like me to post just let me know...
