"Ice Hockey"

Do you ever go to hockey games? Do you find it a little chilly in the rink? The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a lot of issues with their ice and now they are trying out a new "Fast Ice" system... A funny quote by Wade Belak on the issue:
"Three years ago, they said they were going to lower the temperature of the concrete under the ice pad. We had good ice for four games, but it made the building a little cooler and of course everyone in the (lower bowl) platinums complained. They have to remember they're going to a hockey game, not the beach. I think if you can afford a platinum, you can afford to bring a jacket."
Good one Wade, I never knew you had it in you. A true statement though, it's hockey folks... If fans in Toronto are complaining imagine what the Hockey Savvy fans in places like Florida and Carolina must think...

Who has the need for speed?

If you have it, and lots of money you could buy one of these cars, the "cheapest" one is only $65,800...

A little exerpt:
While the Corvette is the cheapest car on the list, the Bugatti Veyron is the most expensive by a similarly wide margin. It costs $1.2 million. For that, buyers will get a 1,001 horsepower car with a potential zero-to-60 time of 2.4 seconds. The transmission is a version of the two-clutched automatic transmission used in the Audi TT.

0-60 in 2.4 seconds! that is nuts, I wonder how much that ticket would be?

They did it again...

Pearl Jam that is...

The concert in Halifax was awesome. I am not sure if it was better than the Montreal show, but they played a lot of my favourite songs, and a lot of the more "popular" ones. They did:

Leatherman

Daughter

Nothingman

Bushleager

Green Disease

Jeremy

Dissident

Rearviewmirror

etc...

And to finish it off an amazing version of Keep On Rockin' In The Free World...

Wow!

Eddie had a great time on stage drank some Keith's and told some stories, only mentioned W once, called him an Asshole... All in all an amazing show...

I wonder when I will catch them again...

Trailer Park Tease...

It's not like it sounds...

For a while now there has been a sign at a local bar announcing that the Trailer Park Boys were coming. Pretty cool, I would love to have a Rum and Coke with Julian and the boys... I never really heard any of the details, until this morning...

It turns out that the "Trailer Park Boys" that are coming are actually John Dunsworth (Mr. Lahey) and Patrick Roach (Randy). Now I would love to have a drink with Randy-bo-bandy and talk Shit Leopards and Shit Ropes with Mr. Lahey, but I think that could almost be called false advertising. You can't say the Trailer Park Boys are coming if Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles are not gonna be there...

I may have to call the cops in, right now, the real cops, not the crazy, fake, trailer park, drunk, fat gut crazy cops.

Yes we are back...

From the Pearl Jam concert that is... It was excellent by the way. I did not know that Eddie Vedder played the guitar so much, or so well... I have never been to a concert where the band played almost continuously for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I checked the set on pearljam.com and it is actually 2 hours and 26 minutes of music. Wow! I am going to have to buy that, it is awesome how they have the concert available online just a few days after it actually happened.

The definite highlight of the show was when they played Alive. It was incredible. They whole place was singing and rocking... And they played Crazy Mary and Corduroy and over 20 more songs... I must say this was definitely the best concert I have ever been to. and Sleater-Kinney were good, too. I didn't know much of their stuff, but they got Mike McCready out and played Mother by Danzig to finish off their set...

Looking forward to the show in Halifax Thursday night, maybe I will be a little more punctual with my post after that show...

The countdown is still counting down...

To the Pearl Jam concert that is...

And the great thing is that countdown is to the Halifax show, not the Montreal show... I am going to both :-)

So, what songs will they play? To be honest, I haven't even checked the recent playlists to see what they are doing. I hope they will play some of my favourites, of course, but I know they won't play them all, everyone seems to have a few favourites from bands that a lot of others don't seem to like as much, and I am not exception, especially when it comes to Pearl Jam...

Anyway, here are a few of the "standard" favs I am thinking they will do:

1. Black
2. Alive
3. Daughter
4. Even Flow

And these are a few of my favs I hope they do (but the likely won't):

1. Corduroy
2. Present Tense
3. Given To Fly
4. Green Disease

And these are some of their "other" songs that would be great to hear (they may play one or two):

1. Crazy Mary
2. Leatherman
3. Dirty Frank

Either way the concerts are going to be great, can't wait...

Opening act is Sleater-Kinney, I don't know much about them but I heard they rock...

A little self-promotion...

I recently did up a small portfolio for myself, it is here: http://www.petermackinnon.com.

I am hoping to add a "Blog" tab someday and move this blog there...
