Golf...

Well my first round of golf for 2005 is in the books. I forgot to bring my calculator with me so my score is not available at this time. I list Professional Golfer second on my all time list of professions, Rock Star being number one.

My list looks something like this:
  1. Rock Star
  2. Pro Golfer
  3. Pro Basketball/Hockey/Baseball Player
  4. Mega-Successful author (using a pen name, of course)
  5. Website Guru
Of course I am assuming that I would be exceptional at any of these and make many many millions of dollars...

Luck?

So I played in my first "real" poker tournament last night. Labatt Blue is holding tournaments across Canada and the winner of each goes to Toronto, the winner of that tournament gets in to a real World Poker Tour event.

6 tables were set up for 8 players, and the event was set for two rounds. A total of 96 players. The 6 winners of round one would sit at a final table with the 6 winners of round 2. You had to get drawn to play. You had to buy a Blue to get a chip, the more chips you had the greater the chance of getting drawn. A great way for Labatt to sell a lot of Blue. The bar actually ran out, they had to get an order from the liquor store.

Anyway, I got drawn for round 1. To make a long story short, I was the first player eliminated from the tournament.

I consider myself to be a fairly decent player, my friends will back me up on this, I have won my fair share of games. Obviously last night was not my night. I let the time limit get to me and I played way too aggressive too early. I actually got decent cards a couple of times but was outflopped badly twice, and the one time I did have a good hand everyone folded. Oh well, it was fun to play in that sort of environment.

The winner of our table was a complete beginner, she had to ask the value of the chips almost every hand and she even talked on her cell phone through most of the game. It was killing guys when she caught three of a kind on the river twice. So my conclusion is this: A time limit game is all about luck. And this is not sour grapes cause I played badly... ;-)

On another note I got my second win today on Roll Up The Rim... Maybe my luck has changed...

Hostage... and Harping...

We went to see Hostage last night, Troy gives a good review here... We really liked it, lots of action, drama, some nice sublte plot twists and unexpected moments, overall a good show. That is the Hostage part.

Now comes the Harping part. I know I have mentioned this before and I know others have too, but I still am blown away by how people conduct themselves at the movies. Nothing too serious this time, but still, I just don't get it.

We arrived a little early and when we walked into the theatre we were the first people to arrive so we sat in the perfect seats in the middle, about 5 or 6 rows from the top. A girl came in a few minutes later and sat right at the back. A few more people came in and sat closer to the front, like most normal people do in an empty theatre. But then two more girls come in and they sit almost directly behind us and they start talking. No big deal, it is just the previews. Two guys come in just as the opening credits are rolling, you could hear them as they entered the hallway coming into the theatre, and, of course, they sit with the two girls right behind us. They continue to talk through the credits. Jillian said "lets move" but I figured they would stop when the movie actually started. To make a long story short we ended up moving to the aisle.

Anyway, we didn't let that ruin a cool show, but sometimes I just don't understand the movie talkers...

Sports Nut... or Just Nuts?

So I played in a hockey tournament this weekend. It was a lot of fun, unfortunately we didn't win a game... We played two games on Saturday and lost both, 4-2 and 2-1. Not bad considering our opponents were teams from different leagues that have played together all year. We are just a rag-tag bunch of players of many different skill levels. We then played again Sunday morning against another regular team, but we ended up in a 4-4 tie. This was the one game we should have won, but at least we didn't go o'fer.

I then had our last basketball game of the year Sunday night. We played a team that the average age is at least 8 - 10 years younger than us. So we lost, but we gave it a pretty good effort all things considered. Needless to say I am in pretty poor shape this morning. Everything hurts. And to top it all off I lost again this morning on Roll Up the Rim...

Bring on the softball season! Oh yeah, golf too, can't wait to golf...

Upping the Ante...

So I took Jen's advice and I bought an extra large coffee this morning. Now I am full of caffeine and I won... nothing... Oh well, thanks for the tip Jen, I needed to shake things up a bit, but, unfortunately, I think Tim's is monitoring me with some sort of micro device that they slipped in my coffee a long time ago. I am their guinea pig. I can see them now in their evil laboratory laughing. Using me. Studying my every move. Saying things like:

"Why does he keep buying our coffee when he has no chance of winning?"

"Nice move planting that one donut, now he has a little glimmer of hope to cling to."

"We will break his spirit! and continue to take his money!"

I am a slave to the man. and the man's name is Tim, Tim Horton...

This is like, so real, you know?

So another happy hollywood couple are entering the reality television mosh pit. I don't want to say exactly who, so lets just say it's Britney S. and some guy... No, wait, that's too obvious. How about B. Spears and some guy...

You have to give these two credit, they are original... hmm... actually, they are not original at all...
The as-yet-untitled show will document the couple's relationship, including their engagement and their much-publicized nuptuals.
Maybe the show will be called NEWLYWEDS Nick & Jessica
Just Married! Britney & Kendall...

Like, read the artical, y'all

A Whole Week...

Since I posted... Not a lot going on, I guess...

Last night the Amazing Race really focused on some great African scenery and wildlife, and it seems like all of the contestants actually appreciated it for a change. Got to go there some day and see that in person. I was dissapointed that the brothers lost, but they made too many mistakes...

Another large coffee, another loss... Tim's really has my number this year...
